The collection consists of records of the Southern Israelite from 1917-1985. The resource files (1917-1985) include biographies, obituaries, and newspaper articles on a variety of Jewish organizations, individuals, subjects, and communities throughout the South. The general operating files (1933-1972) contain mainly correspondence, news releases, and advertising files. The correspondence documents the administrative activities of the newspaper and its relationship with the American Jewish Press Association, Georgia Press Association, and World Federation of Jewish Journalists.
